MAMA-Africa

(Oil on canvas, 16" X 20")
This represents the embryonic stage of MAMA-Africa Foundation, a Canadian charitable organization whose mission is to take care of AIDS orphans and underprivileged children in Africa through the empowerment of women. The current logo of MAMA-Africa is a mama giraffe kissing a baby giraffe in front of a rising sun. Here, the giraffe embryos are growing inside the sun. As a founder of the organization, the painting illustrates my contribution to the organization.

Confusion

(Oil on canvas 16” X 20”)
The title speaks for itself. Confusing thoughts are intermingled, but are nevertheless compartmentalized, creating chaos. Despite this sense of disorder, the different colors are not discordant with one another, and their presence is in balance.

Pushing Buttons

(Oil on canvas, 11” X 14”)
Here is a representation of a single heart cell. The texture of the inside is soft and smooth, as seen by the vesicular structures. But from a central black spot, pain irradiates out into the extracellular environment. The Golgi apparatus, the exporting machinery in the cell that secretes molecules, is responsible for this irradiation. The four structures on the edge of the cell act as a gatekeeper. This shows that one painful event can cause a traumatic explosion.

Magician

(oil and water color on canvas, 16" X 20")
The magician, with an embryonic face, juggles with life. His arms are in the form of sperm cells, each one randomly going into different direction. The magician represents the uncontrollable fate of conception.
